I've been a procrastinator for as long as I can remember, but I hope this experience cures me forever. I was supposed to record a note in the Church eMED files for every significant medical or dental or mental problem since December 11 when the nurse left, but I have always been "too busy", or so I thought. Now that the nurse is coming in TWO DAYS, I've been trying to go back and recreate each call and text and dr visit, etc. Fortunately, Sister Cole gives me a brief summary each day and so far -- working overtime last week -- I'm up to February 1. So a little over halfway and zone conferences started today so I'm falling behind again. When someone reported to me today about their loss of hearing I wanted to say, "Quit whining! Wait until I catch up on the medical notes before you have any more problems!"
Every extra minute has been spent this way -- well, that's not true. I had to shop for the mission food and vitamins, prepare menus for zc, prepare my zone conference presentation (many thanks to Dallin for power point), and I kept an appointment to learn how to cook Beef Caldereta and spring rolls with our stake president's wife that I committed to in November --first day our schedules matched up. Only it lasted a little longer than I expected: from 1pm to 9pm!
Finally, Stewart suggested we go to a hotel where I wouldn't be distracted, so on Thursday night we went to a hotel in Manila where I could work uninterrupted for a whole day (missed the mission meetings), and then stayed home from baptisms Saturday and worked while Stewart did baptismal interviews for next week. Oh! And a shopping trip to the Women's Bazaar and Greenhills mall with the senior sisters that turned out to be a lot of fun. (You see where my procrastination takes over??)
Sister Rigby, who left last October after just ten weeks here due to fractured foot, returned to the mission Saturday. Sister Morris returned home and I will write later about the cool exit interview I listened to with Dad. And Elder Schmutz emailed Dad that our mission has been chosen for a pilot for smartphones beginning in May. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!
I hope to write more next week. Our first mission nurse and her husband arrive Wednesday 8am. I am supposed to "train" her and the first thing I will say is, "Keep up-to-date on your eMED charting!
As Stewart taught in zone conference today, "It's not so much what you say you believe, but what you actually DO that is important."
Love,
Mom
